Welcome to 3rd and 4th grade!

If you have found this website then you must have received the newsletter that I sent home in the Friday Folders last week.  Yay!!

I would like to welcome you to this blog! I have kept up with a blog in the past and did fairly well doing it but I have also had this blog and have not been so good keeping up with it...Wish me luck!

This blog is a place for information about our classroom and our school.  You will be able to check in and see what is happening during our days at Brush College.  Some posts will be about things we did or things we are working and and how you can help at home.  Other posts may be about upcoming events like our Jog-a-thon assembly that we are having this Friday! There are lots of things you will see on this blog. Also, our next big "thing" at Brush College will be our annual Curriculum Night.  It will be on October 8th and have a focus of Math.  You will see and hear all things having to do with Math! So definitely check back for more information.

Don't forget to check the sidelines of this blog for daily information that might be important! When Library books are due and when you should have an extra pair of gym shoes or wear comfortable shoes on our PE days.

*********REMEMBER**********

Ask your 3rd or 4th grader about their reading logs for homework! They went home on Friday and are due Thursday.  There will be another reading log that will go home again this Friday and will be due again the following Friday.  Please check in with your child about this reading log to work on throughout the week! Thank you!

Lastly, 4th graders will have Math homework Monday through Thursday everyday.  We will not have homework on Fridays.  This will be a day to assessment and reteach ideas and standards that were missed throughout the week.  Remember that homework that comes home is practice from what we learned in class that day.  4th graders are encouraged to bring home their problem set so they can work on their homework at home and you will have a better understanding of what we are doing in class and what standards we are learning about in Math.  Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions about this!

I really would like to keep up with this blog so you have some great information about our classroom and things happening throughout our school.  I look forward to knowing if you finding it helpful or not.

Thank you so much and I am excited to see many of you for Curriculum Night on October 8th! :)

Have a great weekend! Enjoy the wonderful fall weather!

On-Line Math Games!!

In my never ending search for great math websites I have found one!! We will definitely be using this website during our Math Workshop time.  Right now we are moving kids around for Math and really looking at grade level abilities and are trying to meet the needs of all our students.  In the math class that I have right now we are discussing factors and multiples along with prime and composite numbers.  Basic Multiplication Facts are ALWAYS being practiced as well during our workshop time.  So this new website will fit in PERFECTLY! Check it out at home as well at http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/math.htm I will also add it as a tab on the right hand side of this blog.  Have fun and remember to keep practicing those basic facts!

Check out the new Math game website!

I have not blogged in awhile but we went to the computer lab this morning and we discovered this blog with all the fun games it has on it! So I was motivated to blog and add a new website to the collection of games we currently have here.  I will add it to the list of classroom websites to visit as well.  The website is called www.mathplayground.com I was checking it out while looking for order of operations things and I came across it.  There is also another website that I need to add as well that is a pretty good one too so stay tuned!
Hope everyone is liking the little bit of crispness in the air now that fall is officially here to stay!
